Alistair M. Stiegmann
Structure. Absence. Meaning.
Alistair MacLain Stiegmann is an independent artist and creative visionary whose career spans over two decades across design, technology, and visual art. Born to Korean and German parents and raised in Virginia Beach, Virginia, Alistair's multicultural heritage and coastal upbringing are central to the personal narratives embedded in his work. He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia. Alistair resides in Nice Còte d’Azur, France since 2002.
Ancien et moderne
The first letter of the word "Respect" in Korean. The power of abstract gestures blends with the poetry of Korean calligraphy. The almost sharp lines interact with softer turquoise halos, creating a balance between tension and serenity. The characters seem to float like suspended thoughts.
Luxueux et confortable
This triptych explores respect as something relational and unstable—never owned, only practiced. Divided across three panels, the composition resists hierarchy. Each section holds its own presence, yet none asserts dominance over the others. Meaning arises through balance, restraint, and the silent agreements formed between them.
Des designs clinquants
The exhibition brought together works exploring identity, memory and cultural heritage through mixed media, photography, Korean typography and contemporary visual techniques. Each piece reflected my ongoing artistic approach: creating portraits through subtraction, where gesture, material and trace reveal what remains.
Introspection
In 2014, I travelled through Portugal with an iPhone in my hand and no intention of creating a formal photographic series. I was simply observing—following the light, the streets and the quiet details that interrupted my path.
